Samoset Council Conservation

Our Conservation Committee (along with Properties and Camping Committees) are dedicated to managing, maintaining, and planning for the sustainable use of Samoset Council's properties for recreational use and to preserve our natural resources through proactive stewardship, volunteer engagement, education, hard work, and the ideals of the BSA.  We have a group of dedicated volunteers, staff, and with the help of the Tesomas Conservation Association we have engaged and involved many different agencies to develop a working plan for our properties.

Mission Statement

The Council Conservation Committee provides the Council with technical assistance and expertise regarding matters of ecology, conservation, and resources management to guide policy making and operational decisions regarding the management of the Council's natural and cultural resources, promotion of conservation related training, and  advancement of conservation programs on our properties.

**Registration will be open soon**

Need conservation service hours? or just want to come up to camp for a relaxing day of self guided service?  Well then signup as a family or a unit, and stay the weekend or come for the day, and  help do some conservation projects.  Here's a sampling of projects we are lining up right now:

  • Spring greenhouse planting
  • fish cribbing bundles
  • planting native seeds
  • soil erosion control
  • new recycling program setup

There is "NO COST" for this activity and camping and leadership is up to the unit while at camp.  But we will have a trading post open and some scouts can even come for our Spring Merit Badge day also offered.
