Marathon County Sheriff’s Department
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department Boat Safety Instructors will be offering the Wisconsin DNR Boat Safety Course and Motor Boating Merit Badge. Wisconsin law dictates anyone born after January 1, 1989 must have a Boat Safety Certificate to operate a boat.
Classes will be from 6-9 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights and from 8 AM to 3 PM on Saturday. After the Scouts complete the DNR program, the program will continue on Lake Wausau for the On-The-Water portion of the merit badge. Parental involvement with motor boats will be necessary.
The cost for this course is $10 payable at first session (cash or check payable to the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department). A prerequisite for the Scouts is they pass the BSA Swimmer’s Test before the program starts.
